Specific features and functionality of this multifunction panel are very interesting. To consider this devise only as a Fan Controller would be a misunderstanding. Multifunction panel allows you to monitor and regulate fan speed of up to four fans connected to the unit, in 10 rpm increments. 3-pin RPM fans are regulable by setting the fan speed by Volts and one 4-pin PWM can be adjusted up to 5940 rpm in units of 60 rpm. Along with fan control, the ZM MFC2 offers the temperature monitoring, using four temperature sensors. Display shows temperature readings between -9 °C and +99 °C.

Very attractive feature of Zalman ZM-MFC2 is a possibility to monitor a Power consumption of your PC in real time (excluding the monitor). For this purpose, use the current/voltage sensor cable to connect the wall socket with the power supply. Display will show you how much power your system is drawing. The maximum of the power consumption graph is 800 watts, what should be more than enough for majority of users. However, I can imagine that for example Quad SLI 8800Ultra together with four cores CPU could be able to create too much juice even for Zalman ZM-MFC2.

Control panel is equipped with kind of protection, and if there is a channel with no fan connected, you get an audio alarm. Here you can have some problems with older fans, which are only two-current fans, so they don't give any signal. Well, time goes further, it's time to move on to the next step and to change your old fan for a new one. Dimensions of the control panel, which are 147x87x42mm indicate that it is rather small. If comparing Zalman ZM-MFC2 with other multifunction panels, you get more functions in less space. It will occupy only one higher position in your disk mechanism.

Now let's proceed to installation.
