In smart PC shopping list, we will guide you through actual offer of Desktop Computers. You are starting to read September overview of Desktop Computers narrowed by prices in categories up to $450, $600, $900, $1200 and category no price limit.
PC $450
For this category, I chose AMDAthlon64 X2 processor with reduced consumption, only 35W, available now for a really bargain price. Motherboard features integrated ATI Radeon X1250 graphics suitable mainly for office work, but sufficient enough for playing of older games. For the future, you can add graphic card to PCI-E bus. Regarding memories, we will focus on capacity. DDR2-800 CL5 memory modules are very affordable. I would not recommend buying hard drive less powerful than 160 GB. There are no outstanding differences in prices of optical disk drives, though quality differences are rather big. Samsung SH-S203B has place among highest quality DVD±RW Writers. Fortron Company offers in GLN line one of the best power-supplies, highly effective and relatively silent.
PC $600
Here I decided for Athlon64 X2 processor 4000+ with Brisbane core, which is easy to be overclocked. Biostar Motherboard is cooled in passive mode. Regarding memory modules, I recommend the same module as for cheapest configuration. ATI Radeon X1950PRO graphic card has already became the legend. I would advice to change its not very effective Company cooler for AC Accelero S1, or to buy directly Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950PRO Ultimate with a high quality Zalman cooler. New line of Western Digital hard drives features silent mode and high performance. Regarding optical disk drives, I again decided for Samsung SH-S203B. As a power-supply, 400W version made by Fortron Company, will be used .

$900 budget allows us to choose Intel processor, which will, after overclocking, perfectly match with effective GeForce 8800GTS graphic card. Motherboard is manufactured by Gigabyte Company, which brings on the market high quality products. I decided for new chipset P35 together with ICH9R supported with RAID. OCZ memory modules are good choice, which will not limit you even after high overclocking. You can divide your data between two hard drives this time. But if you are not impressed with RAID, you can save buying cheaper motherboard and cheaper 500 GB hard drive. For this configuration I chose quality case, made by Compucase Company, which features quality facture and smart internal setout. The choice of optical disk drive and power supply is identical with cheaper versions.

In this configuration, GeForce 8800GTX graphic card, in OC version (610/2000 instead of 575/1800Mhz) made by MSI Company is the most expensive part. Than I chose Intel Core 2 Duo processor with clock speed 2Ghz and cache memory 2 MB. Noctua NH-U9F high quality heat pipe cooler, is supported with silent 9 cm fan, mounted already by Company. Fortron Blue Storm II 500W power supply is able to handle highest demands of graphic card. Other components remain identical with cheaper versions.

Here, new Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 processor with clock speed 3 GHz is used. I guess, that some users would prefer Q6600 with recently reduced price, but for common users I would recommend to buy dual core processor, with possibility to reach higher frequency. Motherboard features Nvidia chipset, which allows to set two GeForce 8800GTX. Western Digital high-speed huge 500 GB hard drive, specially made for RAID, handles highest memory demands. Sound blaster X-fi is made mainly for gamers. Seasonic power supply features maximal silent mode and great 650 W performance. Antec P182 case is intelligently designed for smart cooling of components. Silentmaxx power supplies together with Zalman fan regulator, able to display actual temperatures and consumption of PC are another perfect choice.
