Sensor
Despite the rather strange positioning of the sensor, it functions very well. Razer has been keen on 3D optics already for some time. No surprise that gamers prefer sensor over laser, for its higher sensitivity. Boomslang's sensor is exact and precise, Always-On™ technique doesn't allow it to take a break.
Ergonomy
All used materials are no doubts of high standard. Boomslang mouse, is despite its low profile very handy. Usually I hold the mouse with two fingers from above, with ring finger and little finger relaxing on the side, in case of Boomslang, I was able to grab it with three fingers from above, holding it additionally from left and right with my thumb and little finger.
Big primary buttons have a comfortable surface and they are reasonably resistant. After the pressing of the button, you can hear the micro switching device. Mouse rollbar is gently massaging the middle finger while being used.
All would seem ideal, but anyway, somehow it took me a good while to get use to a Boomslang's unusual shape.
I bet that gamers with lower or medium sensitivity in hands, used to make quick and long movements with fingers (1-2m/s), and those who have habit to lift the mouse off the table while playing, will have to train couple of hours/days with new Boomslang to be able to exploit its specific design for perfect game without interruptions caused by mouse unwanted action.
Following flash animation illustrates how I've surpassed technical problems with mouse buttons, you simply press them in accordance with indications (green indicator) and get use to control the mouse with the palm.
There's one more thing about Boomslang. After switching off the computer, mouse underlighting turns off, what would be the expectable reaction. But after pressing off one of mouse buttons accidentally, mouse blinks several times, and than it won't turn off until you disconnect its USB port or start and switch off computer again.

Boomslang features superb sensor, high quality elaboration, perfect primary buttons and rollbar functionality, and high standard software. Those who already had the opportunity to try any of Razer's mice, won't have any problems wits its unusual shape, others will have to train and get use to it.
Boomslang CE 2007 is without a hesitation a collectors object and I bet many Razer enthusiasts will try to get one Boomslang (or actually 10 000 of fans). The question is how many of them will later use it for gaming...to be honest the new Boomslang perfectly fits with its satin box...and would match behind glass display case. In shops, new Razer Boomslang is available for 85 to 110 dollars.
